Bollywood and Folk Dance
Bollywood Dance is the most famed dance form in India and various countries; Bollywood Dance is generally called a filmy dance that we can simply see in Bollywood Hindi cinema.
In the establishment of Indian films, all the dance choreographies were based on Indian Classical Dances or Indian Folk Dances. Most popular Classical Dance forms were Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi etc & the folk dances were Bhangra, Rajasthani Folk, Garba, Dandiya, Bihu etc. Most of the choreographers were professionally trained in their respective dance forms.
Traditionally Bollywood dance was primarily modeled on Indian dance styles; classical as well as folk dances. As it continues to grow in popularity, Bollywood dance is increasingly becoming a fusion of dances from all over the world. It is a highly energetic and expressive dance form. A performer will act out the words of the song and engage his and/or her audience with the story being told.
Today’s Bollywood Dance is influenced by much western dance style like Hip Hop, Jazz, B-Boying, Locking Popping, Salsa, disco and many more or I can say it’s a mixture of all Indian & western Dance. Now the choreographers have become smarter. Today producers & Directors spend a lot of money on costumes, locations, sets & on a bigger group of a dancer.
